The above image shows estimated rainfall over the Southeast U.S. for the month of November. Heaviest rain fell across most of Mississippi and Alabama, far northern Georgia, the western Carolinas, and Virginia. This area received from 4 to over 8 inches of rainfall (areas in red). Heaviest rain, nearing 10 inches, fell over the higher elevations of the Appalachian Mountains. Rain tapered off very quickly further south with only a couple of inches of rain (green) over southern Georgia, eastern South Carolina, and much of Florida.
Looking at Departure from Normal Precipitation for the month areas in blue and green indicate above-normal precipitation with areas in red indicating below-normal precipitation. Unfortunately, was only 10 to 50 percent of normal over the core of the drought region of central and southern Georgia.
